The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has launched two key initiatives: SPREE-2025, which offers a penalty-free window for new registrations, and the AMNESTY Scheme, which allows employers to settle old legal disputes.

SPREE-2025: A Fresh Start for Registration 📜

SPREE-2025 (Scheme for Promoting Registration of Employers and Employees) is a special drive to expand social security coverage to more workers, including temporary and contractual staff.

Think of it as a “no-fault” registration window. From July 1 to December 31, 2025, employers who haven’t registered with the ESIC can do so online without any fear of penalties for the past.

Key Features:

  • Clean Slate: ESIC will not inspect past records or demand contributions for the period before registration.

  • Easy Registration: Employers can register digitally through the ESIC, Shram Suvidha, or MCA portals.

  • Goal: The scheme aims to encourage voluntary compliance by removing the fear of retrospective action, thereby bringing more workers under the social security umbrella.

AMNESTY Scheme: Clearing Old Disputes 💼

This is a one-time dispute resolution initiative designed to help employers clear up long-pending legal issues with the ESIC. The settlement window is open from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026.

The scheme provides an opportunity for employers to settle disagreements related to past damages, interest payments, and coverage disputes.

By offering a way to resolve these issues out of court, the AMNESTY Scheme aims to:

  • Reduce Litigation: Lower the number of lawsuits clogging the system.

  • Strengthen Compliance: Help employers clear their records and become fully compliant.

  • Ensure Benefits: Remove legal hurdles that might prevent employees from receiving their social security benefits smoothly.
